About this listen
"I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn't resolve. I used to not like God because God didn't resolve. But that was before any of this happened." (Donald Miller)
In Donald Miller's early years, he was vaguely familiar with a distant God. But when he came to know Jesus Christ, he pursued the Christian life with great zeal. Within a few years he had a successful ministry that ultimately left him feeling empty, burned out, and, once again, far away from God. In this intimate, soul-searching account, Miller describes his remarkable journey back to a culturally relevant, infinitely loving God.
For anyone wondering if the Christian faith is still relevant in a postmodern culture.
For anyone thirsting for a genuine encounter with a God who is real.
For anyone yearning for a renewed sense of passion in life.
Blue Like Jazz is a fresh and original perspective on life, love, and redemption.

Story
There are four characters in every story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide. These four characters live inside us. If we play the victim, we’re doomed to fail. If we play the villain, we will not create genuine bonds. But if we play the hero or guide, our lives will flourish. The hard part is being self-aware enough to know which character we are playing. In this book, Donald will use his own experiences to help you recognize if the character you are currently surfacing is helping you experience a life of meaning.

To shamelessly show love and grace to those around you—what would that look like? Not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings, Bob's love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

Like seeing myself in the story.
I learned so many things that have helped me to make sense of what God wanted me to understand about who I am in relation to Him, and who he is in relation to me. I heard many lessons I myself had learned in my own journey with, then away from, and finally back to Jesus. The title is fitting and the opening statement about Jazz and God not resolving was the perfect way to describe it all. I saw my own journey in Donald Miller’s story.

excellent book
I assign this book to the students who take my Chaplain 201 Class. I find it really fosters wonderful class discussion on Christianity and hurdles some have with accepting a belief built on faith. Miller does a wonderful job tackling some of the tough issues of faith in our current society. At times the book can feel a little disjointed as he jumps from topic to topic, but all in all this is a must read for every believer who serves in any role.
