About this listen

I am the last remaining Sylvian.

The final warrior in a line of Lycan-Undead hybrids.

Because of the demon that resides within me, I mistakenly slaughtered my family when I was ten.

But my family is not just any ordinary family. My father was the king.

I’ve been on the run my entire life, wanted for treason.

But now my enemies have my daughter, the only person on this earth I have left to love.

For her, I will fight.

For her, I will take back my kingdom.

For her, I will make this world bleed.

I originally purchased the physical copy of this book from TikTok after seeing several different posts about it. Then I won an audiobook copy from the author himself! I enjoyed the audiobook a lot, though it took me longer than it should have to finish it. That’s what I get for not driving as much this month. Dang weather! I liked the concept of the story and the plot with all the twists and turns presented. Syrus was a a good character; he was strong but also had weaknesses and faults. I also liked how the book ended and am curious how the next book will play out. I also really liked Bloodlust, the villain, because he was well-thought out, dark, and creepy. Though is he the true villain? Guess readers will find out in the next installment! Side note: the narrator for this has a very smooth voice but his Bloodlust voice hurt my throat.

The narrator and the plot

Let’s talk about Sylvian—the MMC who stole the show and my heart. Devin Thorpe crafted a character who’s equal parts dangerous, brooding, and surprisingly vulnerable. Sylvian’s internal battle between his dark past and his undeniable connection to the FMC made every scene he graced electric.

There’s something about his presence—commanding yet soft—that pulls you deeper into the story. His moments of quiet strength, his unspoken sacrifices, and his fierce protectiveness added so much emotional weight. I couldn’t help but root for him, flaws and all.

The chemistry between Sylvian and the FMC is perfection. Their relationship simmers just below the surface, full of tension and longing, never distracting from the high-stakes action and rich plot.

🩸 Favorite Moment: Sylvian’s moment of vulnerability when he opens up about his past—it completely shattered me.

🌟 Why you’ll love this: If morally grey, tortured heroes with hearts of gold are your thing, Sylvian will absolutely ruin you in the best way possible. Pair that with intense world-building, action, and a sprinkle of spice, and you’ve got a five-star fantasy.

Truly a masterpiece

I really enjoyed the world-building in Bloodlust. The setting and lore were well-developed, making it easy to get lost in the story. One of my favorite aspects was the descriptions of the undead—some were so blunt that they had me chuckling. It was a nice balance of eerie and entertaining.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator had a really pleasant voice that suited the story well. However, I did find that while driving, the audio sometimes got drowned out unless I turned the bass way down.

Overall, Bloodlust was an enjoyable read, and I definitely think my husband will love it too—I plan to have him listen next!

superb world building

Nothing much happens for extended periods of time due to the MC talking/thinking to himself and having dreams/nightmares. If you take out the majority of all that, this book would be about 5 hours long.

Way too much "inner dialogue"
