About this listen

From the New York Times bestselling author of River of Shadows and Black Sunshine comes a new dark gothic romance duet about how love can transcend the ages, but at a deadly cost.

Is it her destiny to love him?

Or is it her destiny to die?

Valtu Aminoff is no stranger to tragedy. Though many know him as the enigmatic vampire that inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula, Valtu's complex life is far more horrific than any fiction could imagine. When you lose the love of your life over and over again, it can do more than break your heart—it can corrupt your soul.

It's up to his new lover to decide if Valtu's damaged soul is even worth saving.

But destiny isn't done with Valtu yet. And tragedy is always around the corner.

Contains mature themes.

Obsessed!

Loved this ending for Rose and Val. It never bored me and I couldn’t stop listening! Excited to check out the other stories from different characters in the story. Hope Karina writes one for roses brothers! I’d definitely read it

dark romance is not my shit

full of violent ,blood and dirty dirty sex scence that somehow too dirty for my taste,it make me dizzy and nauseous. I think I should go back to my small town romance lol nothing wrong with the book tho it's amazing but it's just not suit me.

Wow 🤩!!! What a fantastic journey….

I loved this book. This author gives you a well thought out and complete story. You’ll fall in love with these characters. The pacing is great. The steamy scenes are hot 🥵 and there are several unexpected laugh out loud moments. This was a fantastic book. The narrators did an amazing job. I will certainly search for more books by everyone involved. Highly recommend this duet.

A Perfect Ending

This is the continuation of Valtu and his loves. Rose is the reincarnation of his love he’s met in multiple times in history. First Meena, then Lucille, then Dahlia. Now she is Rose. A vampire herself who is ready to fight for the love that has defied death. The ending of this book is my ultimate happily ever after and I’m still in a hangover, not ready for it to be over.

A Great Finale

4 ⭐ 4 🌶️ 3 🎧

While I didn't love the ending as much as I did the beginning, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. This duet was so spicy and suspenseful with some wild twists and it kept me highly entertained for the past couple of days. It had the perfect spooky season Gothic vibe and I'm so happy I finally got a chance to read it.

I really loved Rose. She was younger than the other three reincarnations from what I gathered, but her maturity level and the ordeals she went through made her stick out to me. She was quite the badamf too, I couldn't get enough of her lightning.

I swore I loved the audio in the first book, but I had a really hard time listening to Arthur Russell's Rose (and other female voices) especially during spicy scenes... Carolyn Eve was wonderful though and Arthur's Val was fantastic. Overall it was a good listen.

Happy endings do happen

The eventual romance was the only thing keeping me from throwing this book at the wall.

Liked/hated this continuation! Loved how original the story was. Hated the short tangent about Rose’s brother and the short family reunion?? Felt a little confused with where they were in some points of the story. Felt the story was like we are here, now we’re here, but wait we’re going there now… idk. Valtu’s reaction to finding out who Rose was, was so unfair too! Yes, he was in despair at having killed her when she was Dahlia. BUT personally I didn’t get how both of them could justify him erasing her a second time?! That was just so cruel and so immature. You’d think after hundreds of years he wouldn’t act like that. I loved the line, “In this kiss it feels like she’s erasing my sins … I never knew I needed saving” <3 I just wanted them to have their happy ending. Again, with this book, so much more could have been written! And then all for Bellamy, or however you spell his name, just to be killed so effortlessly?! I wanted more world building and more answers. More about the demon, what happened to the demon, how the book came to be and why a demon was even attached to it but then in the first book should the demon not have been away from the book or was that an entirely different “bad thing”, more about the witch society, what tests/results they were looking for when they kidnapped her brother— was it just immortality??, were there other creatures/things/people there when he was there, can anyone else in the world be reincarnated.. etc!! I guess you could say it’s smut with a side of plot.
