About this listen
What if you woke up in a book? A reader trapped in fiction. The sexy hero waiting for her. A harrowing journey home.
For fans of Labyrinth and The Neverending Story comes an epic romantic adventure ...
A reader gets sucked into the book she's reading and is trapped, unless she convinces the hero of the story to send her home. Just her luck - the book is unfinished, and its sexy hero is far more alpha male than she's prepared to handle.
What Naia doesn't know: the story - and its hero - have been expecting her for quite some time, even though she has no idea what she's doing there.
Naia must learn quickly how to navigate the dangerous, magical world of Black Moon Draw and find a way to complete her journey with the unlikely, uncooperative hero of the story, who holds the key to returning her home.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Story
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Epic read!
I knew I was going to love this one the moment I read the blurb. I had often wished to be able to go into one of my books like The Never Ending Story or be in the Labriynth with David Bowie (OK- who hasn't had that wish :) ) This book gave me all of that and even more. With a touch of this and a touch of that and a story like only Lizzy can give us, I was entranced from the beginning and was not disappointed. Listening to this one I was able to envision the story as it unfolded. Having already read and loved the book I knew I just had to listen to the Audio version when I heard there was to be one. A great read for the kid, and grown-up in all of us.

Any additional comments?
What an amazing book. I absolutely loved it. It was so much fun. It kind of makes you wonder what it would feel like getting stuck in a book. The narrator was perfect for this book. It was a lot of fun to listen too. If you love fantasy make sure you pick up yours to listen to. You will not regret it

Chuckled frequently.
Any additional comments?
The main character knows she's in a book -- a first draft at that. I chuckled frequently whenever she yelled at the author for inconsistencies. I just happen to start listening on a weekend that I was doing housework, so I think i listened to the whole thing in less than 48 hour time period. Kept me entertained. I was worried I wouldn't like the narrator, but she actually suited the main character pretty well.

I was drawn into this story, not so much as Naia
I loved the way Naia complained to the author. In a similar situation, I'd be doing the same. It's difficult to determine if there are any unintentional flaws in it and that's the best part. The part of me that is OCD got to relax and enjoy the story without wincing every time the author messed up. It was so funny when Naia called out the line that was intentionally spoken so you could barely understand it.
Julie does another great job narrating the poor woman who goes through mood swings in seconds. Her gruff voice for the Knights is good too.
As far as the ending, it sucked because I didn't want it to end so soon.
Legalese: I was given a free copy of this audio from the narrator because I asked nicely.

3.5 stars for the story
Overall a creative, entertaining and enjoyable story. Romance, action, adventure, mystery and suspense.
I was really looking forward to this book. What a concept a book lover gets pulled into a book. If you’re a book lover you've seen the question asked before in book groups, discussions, a meme, etc. if you could be pulled into a book which one would it be. Unfortunately the story didn't pull me in right away, it just wasn't holding my attention. Eventually the story did pull me in after a few chapters.I think I would have enjoyed this book more had I read it rather than listened to it.
The way characters are perceived has a lot to do with the way they are presented through the narration. The characters just did not come across as very likable especially in the beginning. Naia came across as whiny and annoying. Eventually she grew on me. The Shadow Knight was not much more likable in the beginning either. Even though he was overbearing and domineering his slight softer side showed through occasionally when dealing with Naia. With the world he lives in I guess his demeanor is a little more understanding but still not likable.
Reluctantly Naia must learn to navigate a new and frightening world she has been pulled into. A magical world full of danger, unusual creatures and war. A world that is dying. Naia must work together with the Shadow Knight to save his world and themselves. Naia knows certain things because she read them before she was sucked into the story. Although the story was not complete so she doesn't know everything. Will her knowledge and her actions be enough to accomplish her purpose for being there?
Julie Hoverson did a good job with the narration. As I was listening to her I realized I have listened to her narrate other books only under a different name. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. Good character voices. Doing the deep gravelly voice for the male characters fit this story. For me though there is just something a bit off about the delivery. Basically, over narrating. Her narration at the end of the story when she was listening to the messages LF left her and her inner dialog with herself was great as well as the narration used in the epilogue. The narration wasn't as over emphasized. I would have enjoyed this narration for the whole book much more.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.

Enjoyable listen, give it a try
What made the experience of listening to Black Moon Draw the most enjoyable?
The narrator. I wont lie, sometimes her voice was a little whiny in the sad parts but she was so funny in the humorous parts. Her laughing had me laughing.
What other book might you compare Black Moon Draw to and why?
No comparison. The concept of the story was very unique to any books I have read. The character was brought into the story she was reading.
Any additional comments?
Overall I liked this books. It was a little long and some of the characters voices I did not like but I liked the story overall. I loved how little issues in the book translated for Naia like when the Shadow Knights clothes changed. I thought that was so funny. I think this may be an overlooked audiobook but I really encourage you to give it a chance. I think it would be enjoyable.

I want my own Shadow Knight
LF please put me into a book with my shadow knight! OMGOOODNESS. I absolutely fell head over hills in love with this story. First time I came across I red it. Now I listened to it on Audible. And wow!!!! It’s sooo much better the second time. Naia was a bit weak & whinny. I wish she’d been more determined to help the shadow knight. But the ending made up for all that. I am in bliss. 😊😊😊🥰

Not bad different, just different. It had a good story, that was easy to follow, with decent characters. I listened to the whole book, not enjoying the end much. Oh well, we can’t love them all.
