About this listen
'It followed me home,' he said conversationally.
In a rural northern village, legend tells of a ghostly black dog that appears from the darkness before you die.
Shadow Moon has been on the road a while now, but he can't walk any farther tonight, not with the rain lashing down. Gratefully he heads home with a nice English couple, who offer a box room, hot whisky and local tales. But when the man collapses en route, Shadow realises that something about this place has been left untold. Something ancient, something within the very walls of the village. Something shadowing them all.

Author's own voice brings the story to life
An author who narrates his own books is a rarity. In this case a very positive thing.

A good story
Short, but with unexpected twists and turns. You don’t have to have read anything else featuring Shadow to understand it.

Wonderful story of Shadow Moon
I have to admit that American Gods is not my favorite Gaiman novel (though I have enjoyed everything he has written so far, even if it’s just for his elegant writing style) but this I really enjoyed. I did immediately understand what was going on, but that didn’t make it any less fun. Definitely recommend this for Gaiman enthusiasts

Primitive
Don't want to spoil this, more than it already is, because the twist might be the only consolation for another poor listener like myself, but just so you know, this is a most primitive story in terms of theme, imagination, and structure. A waste of time, since it has been told and retold hundreds of times in several cultures.

Niel Gaiman a One hit wonder.
I first listened to American Gods and really liked it. Since then I’ve listened to Four of his works and it’s honestly all very disappointing, I returned each one. Just plain boring and meaningless. His stories just drags on and on and he seems to just like to create stories for the sake of it.
I fell a sleep during this one several times. With such a potential arsenal of excitement at his disposal making stories about super natural things he still manages to make it as exciting as episodes of that daytime British tv show that never ends, the one with the Land Rover in the vinjett, I forgot the name although it’s been on tv for more than 20 years (that’s how exciting it’s is). His books after American Gods equally.
He is a one hit wonder. Stay clear unless you want to scream “But Come ON for Gods sake...”
