About this listen

This story is set in Melbourne, Australia's second largest city. The population was about half of of the 5 million it is now. It was before the days of desktop computers, Internet and mobile phones. Televisions were black and white, there were plenty of Holdens and Volkswagen beetles on the road and some milk deliveries were still done by horse and cart. It is based on my school experiences. There is drama, humour, quirkiness, strange stories and surprises. And the amazing thing to remember is that they come from the memory of real experiences. The saying truth is stranger than fiction applies. Some anecdotes may seem very strange by today's standards, while others may seem strange by any standard. Hopefully you will find some of them amusing, entertaining while others will confronting and challenging. Various issues may be touched on, such as:
  • Bullying.
  • Teenage smoking and drinking.
  • Passive smoking.
  • Teenage sexuality.
  • Emotional Intelligence.
  • School military training.
  • And more...
