What a love story!

Just when you think you can't love the Winslows as much as the English brothers, you begin the quartet by listening to Bidding on Brooks. The story between Brooks and Skye is nothing less than magic. Wind and water...they were always meant to be. I loved the way the two came together. The auction of Brooks was nothing more than laugh out loud funny with the bidding war. Continue to the cruise, where Brooks has now promised Skye the skipper position for the duration, she is able to shine and be appreciated for her abilities. You can't help but want to smack Brooks at times...you just want him to get over his fears, while a possibility, you can't put your life on hold waiting for bad things to happen. When he realizes he is in love and she realizes her lifelong dreams may come true, another shoe drops...Love the ending, but I won't give it away.

Lauren Sweet provides a wonderful performance. Her renditions of the Blueberry Lane series are nothing from flawless. Each one is clear, the voices are able to be recognized as the characters from previous books and she makes your earbuds stay in.

I Loved Brooks and Skye’s story!!

This story was simply wonderful! I could feel the love and connection between these two characters. I loved so much about this story. From the grease monkey girl and the Olympic boy to the sailing. The sailing being a main portion of the story was great! Makes me want to head out! They each have a reason for not being in a committed relationship. This is woven perfectly to make me side with each of them but hope for their happiness in the end.

I enjoyed the bit of family I saw from each character. The doting father and the relationship that Brooks has with his brothers and sister.

Overall I really liked this more than I thought I would. This is my first book by this author and I like how she writes. I eagerly look forward to the next in the series!

I did listen to this on audio. Lauren Sweet is the narrator. I really loved her voice for Brooks.

Putting aside hangups!

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. Katy has written a captivating story about two people whose lives have prevented them from moving on and finding love. Brooks thinks that he and Skye are a safe bet not to fall in love. So much for safe bets. This is a slow burn romance and it is so much fun watching it develop. There are several twists and turns along the way. This an enjoyable story to listen to. The narrator does an outstanding job of portraying the emotions and personalities of these characters. She gives them distinctive voices and is enjoyable to listen to. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Sex as filler is boring

If you could sum up Bidding on Brooks: The Winslow Brothers #1 in three words, what would they be?

Good character development, satisfactory plot, too many sex scenes.

Would you be willing to try another book from Katy Regnery? Why or why not?

This author uses sex scenes as filler. I am bored reading over and over again about the sexual activity of the characters. A little goes a long way, and I am tired of writers who try to write longer books by inserting more and more bedroom scenes. Like anything else, too much just drags the book out. Two or three per book is adequate.

What about Lauren Sweet’s performance did you like?

The narrator did a wonderful job. She doesn't read the dialogue tags in the same voice as the dialogue so you know when the speaker stops speaking. Her pacing is excellent, and her voice is a pleasure to listen to. I look forward to listening to other books with this narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was particularly moved by the slimmy magazine writer/photographer. He was such a pleasure to hate!

Any additional comments?

I would encourage the author to continue to write interesting plots with conflicted characters, but with far less description of bedroom activities. Too much description of anything is to be avoided.

I liked these two characters. Brooks is a first rate caretaker. He hids behind a rather stoic facade but it's there. Skye has been so busy taking care of business with her father she has forgotten what it is to be a woman. Yes, she has a boyfriend, but does she really? As she and Brooks get closer, they both have decisions to make.

What’s not to like ?

What’s not to like about Bidding on Brooks by: Katy Regnery? From the first page I was drawn into Brooks and Skye’s adorable dance. Each had fears about falling in love. When they finally discover that maybe they could explore being more than friends-I was so excited for them. Despite the obstacles that kept popping up along the way I wanted them to face their demons and succeed. The auction scenario was hilariously entertaining. I loved the character of Clay, he was just over the top enough to make him believable. Katy Regnery captured my heart with Brooks and Skye’s journey to love in Bidding on Brooks. Am waiting eagerly for the next book in the series.

The Ebook is better

Unfortunately, the narrator worsens the telling of this story. It’s better as an ebook, even if you use the robotic voiceover feature.

A sweat and sexy story

A cliché premise, a cringy start of a relationship–seriously, despite all her qualities, Brooks wouldn’t have fallen in love with Skye if she hadn’t showed some leg and make-up? Also, if I understood Brooks’s fears, I didn’t get why he used escorts, while he knew very well how wrong it was. Despite all that, I enjoyed this book quite a lot.

First of all, because the female–only–narrator was pretty good. If her male voice wasn’t exactly outstanding, she did a wonderful job with emotions. And since there were a lot in this story, it helped.

I loved the adventure at sea–sailing, long days, storms, spartan commodities… It was a new universe for me and I enjoyed it. And it showed both characters’ skills, and their respect for each other. That gave a good background for their relationship.

It may have been extra sweet at times–enough to justify a dentist appointment–but I liked the dynamics in the relationship, and the tender and romantic moments. The bit of steam was equally welcomed, just enough and with strong emotions.

A sweat and sexy story with a beautiful ending.

Wake up Skye

Skye was so blind to the leech Pat that she couldn't see what a loser skeevy scum he was. and that infuriated me. She was also a disappointment when she cut Brooks out of her life without listening to him first. SMH! Brooks should not have had to grovel to her. because he DID NOTHING WRONG !!!I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.
