About this listen
Better Than Mom's is a neighborhood diner in a small city in Wisconsin where good food and interesting people come together. Meet Brady, the warm-hearted owner who takes pride in making homemade food for his customers, Fay, the sassy morning waitress who cares for people more than she lets on, Naomi, the welfare mom who cooks like an angel and needs a job, Steve, who sits in the back booth and won't let anyone see what he's writing, and Officer Bates, who comes to investigate a crime but ends up sweeping Fay off her feet. Stop in at Better Than Mom's for a bowl of homemade soup, a lighter-than-air biscuit, and a visit with people who could be your neighbors.

I'd like to drop in at the small town diner!
Good story. I found myself wanting to stop in at the diner and get to know everyone. It's a well-written, easy read about life & love set in a small town restaurant. If we could all surround ourselves with sometimes quirky, always genuine co-workers and patrons, every day would be more fun. I listened to the audiobook on an international flight and the time flew by.

Can't beat good food, friends & love!
Is it possible to find love the second time around? Or at a later stage of life? This story leads the listener through many different relationships built on foundations of great diner food, staff and customers, with a generous sprinkling of dancing, knitting, writing, and more. The characters come to life quickly as the story develops and there are so many different personalities it's easy to relate one or more to your own life experiences. Definitely an enjoyable book!
