About this listen

From #1 New York Times bestselling authors Brandon Sanderson and Janci Patterson comes Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians, the thrilling conclusion to the Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians saga.

As a Knight of Crystallia, I, Bastille, swore to protect the Smedry clan from the Evil Librarians. (And believe me, screwups like them constantly need protecting.) But when Alcatraz Smedry got strapped to an altar of outdated encyclopedias to be sacrificed to the dark gods, I arrived too late―and instead his father took his place.

Now Alcatraz is a blubbering mess, so it’s up to me lead the charge against his father’s killer: Biblioden, founder of the Evil Librarians―I was sure he died centuries ago!―who’s back to complete his goal of world domination. Now he’s going to use the dark powers he gained from that sacrifice against everyone not under Evil Librarian control. Being burned up from the inside is not how I plan to die, so I’d better figure out some way to stop him or we’re toast!

I know Alcatraz is wrong when he swears he’s no hero. But when a hero falls short, that’s the time for everyone else to step up and do what needs to be done.

What listeners say about Bastille vs. the Evil Librarians

Highly rated for:

The Audiobook Appears To Be The Final Installment In A Humorous And Imaginative Fantasy Adventure Series For Young Readers. While Praised For Its Engaging Narrative, Unique Perspective, And Satisfying Conclusion To The Overarching Story, Some Felt It Lacked The Action And Consistent Narration Of Previous Entries. The Lighthearted Adventures And Sarcastic Humor Were Still Present, Though Some Mature Themes And Repetitive Elements Drew Criticism. Overall, It Seems To Provide A Fitting, If Somewhat Abrupt, Ending To A Beloved Series Known For Its Postmodern Storytelling And Coming-of-age Tale.

Different point of view

I like the way it is wrapped up, and I enjoyed the way the story is told through a different characters point of view yet still keeps the same personality the other books had.

Amazing ending!!

We’ve loved the entire series and have come to love Bastille as a character as well, so it felt totally natural to hear things from her perspective. The reader, Suzy, is amazing and we love her witt and sarcastic tone! Overall well done!!! Thank you Brandon Sanderson for finishing this series!

Action and... Let’s face it, this whole book is awesome.

I almost cried at the end because this whole book series is great. Please make more books like this people! Are you losing your minds? Why are you writing fantasy’s and not true stories like this? We need the facts. Please make more following this story line!

Super fun but sadly too short

Loved seeing the action from Bastille’s view. This was a fun story like it’s predecessors! I recommend reading all six in a row for maximum enjoyment and cause they’re quite short.

A Satisfying Ending

I wasn't sure how this one was going to read when I saw there was a co-author, but it read fairly well. I wasn't a fan of the constant monologue, but I know that's more frequently in the Alcatraz series than in other series. Still, though, there was way too much in this book. That's really my only complaint. At least it was often whitty, so that's good. Overall, it's a 5-star book, as Sanderson novels usually are. The characters are deepened by the storyline and monologue so there's good character development. It was a satisfying end to a fun middle school series.

Kids Loved It

A good end (?) to a good series. The kids loved it. The story is continued quirkiness but fun. The narrator again does a great job.

Read it in a Day

Loved hearing this perspective! Such a great ending to a beloved story! Make sure to start at the beginning and don’t read the last page of any of the books!
