About this listen
Bass Wars: A Story of Fishing, Fame, and Fortune follows professional B.A.S.S fisherman for a year in 1986. The book provides an insider's view of the tournament circuit, the star fishermen, and the want-to-be stars as they compete to catch bass and win big prizes.
It is a reality TV show in an audiobook, and the competition keeps you on the edge of your seat and rooting for your favorites.
The book also tells the story of how Ray Scott founded the Bass Angler Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and launched a series of tournaments that created a new brand of sports hero: the professional bass fisherman. Roland Martin and Rick Clunn won big tournaments and grew into legends. They inspired countless anglers who dreamed of fishing their way to fame and fortune.
Bass Wars vividly describes the beginnings of B.A.S.S. as it follows Clunn, his top rivals, and two of the young dreamers, Randy Blaukat and Randy Moseley, during one grueling and fascinating year in the high-stakes, high-pressure sport of big-league bass fishing. Bass anglers and fishing fans alike consider it a classic.

Story
In 1908, near Folsom, New Mexico, a cowboy discovered the remains of a herd of extinct giant bison. By examining flint points embedded in the bones, archeologists later determined that a band of humans had killed and butchered the animals 12,450 years ago. This discovery vastly expanded America's known human history but also revealed the long-standing danger Homo sapiens presented to the continent's evolutionary richness. Distinguished scholar Dan Flores's ambitious history chronicles the epoch in which humans and animals have coexisted in the "wild new world" of North America.

Travers Corners, like most small towns, has no newspaper, no radio station; but here, large trout - no better than large trout, fictitious trout - await the angler. And apart from spreading gossip outside the McCraken’s General Store, the residents of Travers Corners love nothing more than fly fishing. Scott Waldie’s delightful cast of characters breathes life into this tiny, out-of-the-way town.

Headwaters traces the evolution of a lifelong angler’s priorities from fishing to the survival of the fish themselves.
