About this listen

Most of us would recognise a star leader by their charisma, emotional intelligence and public communication prowess. What is truly impressive but often overlooked is the silent work of leadership that garners real results. Exercising influence in a complex and global organisation - whilst also shaping and executing strategies across borders in a disruptive age - is the true mark of success as a leader.

Backstage Leadership takes a comprehensive look at the background processes that leaders must master in order to shape the culture, direction and capability of a successful company. With an emphasis on strategy, the author provides an integrated toolkit for developing your knowledge and skills as a 'backstage leader'. You will learn how to:

  • Mobilise people towards new strategic directions
  • Scan your business environment for threats and disruptive forces
  • Diagnose and help to shape the culture of your organisation
  • Develop talent and capabilities towards a specific goal.

Focusing on the key and consistent underlying processes of leadership, this audiobook is essential listening for managers who wish to bring focus and coherence to their leadership role and integrate themselves within the engine of the organisation.

I have been listening to the book and have found it to be highly effective . The concept of backstage leadership gives a broad perspective of the kind of strategy that can help create a better institution. Usually leaders get overwhelmed by front stage heroism without recognising the power of silent backstage work that is equally important for things to go

This book was a real revelation to me in the sense that it shed a new light on things I previously took for granted (corporate culture, for instance) and provided a surprisingly actionable framework for improving things within one's organization, all the while staying away from miracle recipes. The writing is both flamboyant and no-nonsense. Loved it.

Eye-opening and surprisingly balanced

The performance was done well so that kept me going for a while. There were nuggets that can be pulled from the content as well but the buzz words were crushing my enthusiasm! I get it, you keep up on all the current buzz words, just tell me what you know and don’t try to impress so much. The writer is knowledgeable, I believe, I was just tripping over the ten dollar words.

It had potential
