About this listen
Does your baby struggle to find sleep on his/her own? Do you want to teach your baby the art of sleeping so that you can both get the sleep you need and be the great parent you wish to be? If so, keep reading...
Many parents are not aware that sleeping, and especially sleeping through the night, is not an innate but a learned behavior. That is why it is essential to teach your infant how to sleep on his/her own at nap time and during the night. The result? You are not only better able to be the great parent you wish to be, but you will have time and energy to heal your mind and body from the stresses of pregnancy and childbirth.
Baby Sleep Training for New Parents, from Motherhood Moods, is a practical guide for new parents to learn:
- How to schedule your daily routines for nighttime sleep needs
- Infants' nutritional needs and how they affect sleep cycles
- Melatonin-rich foods, which contain this natural hormone to promote sleep
- How solid foods affect a baby’s sleep schedule and how they should be introduced
- The different sleep cycles of babies, which are different from adults
- Misconceptions of sleep training and how you can tell what works and what doesn’t
- The different approaches of sleep training to customize and suit proven techniques to your own family’s lifestyle
- How to manage colic, teething, and food allergies for a restful and happy baby
- Proven skills to use, which reassure your baby of safety and promote a restful night's sleep
You will also find positive affirmations for a happy family at the end of the book. These mindful affirmations will guide your baby and toddler to a peaceful sleep and will boost the spirits of mothers and fathers so that they can remain consistent and resilient through this process.
A home which has well-being for everyone at its core is a loving and cozy place.
It all begins with happy, relaxed parents, and that begins with a restful night's sleep for you and your baby!

Story
Motherhood is demanding (to say the least), but when all of your mental and physical energy is directed towards a tiny human, you are neglecting yourself. And when you are neglected, you don’t have the energy or strength to take care of your completely dependent newborn. But you’re probably thinking how can I possibly put my needs above those of my baby? The truth of the matter is, your baby needs you to be at your best, and this is achieved through self-care. Self-care has many misconceptions, and due to the prefix, it’s all too often associated with selfishness.

Emphasizes flexibility and mindfullness
Received audiobook via promo code.
Less and less new parents have a luxury of enjoying help and wisdom of grandparents being by their side when new baby comes. This book might help fill that void by:
- Emphasizing importance of bonding with the baby and showing the ways for both fathers and mothers.
- providing key facts on nutrition
- describing adult and baby sleep cycles
- stressing out the necessity of being receptive to baby’s need and flexibility of methods as each child is different.
I particularly applaud chapter 7 where author cautions new parents about using white noise machines and the potential developmental dangers associated with them. Another authoritative book I read awhile ago (sorry can’t mention its name as amazon review rules prohibit it) emphasizes that babies are born with undifferentiated auditory brain maps. Those maps are shaped and become detailed during first sensory experiences. White noise can force neural circuits to shut down early before the brain maps are fully developed.
Another great advice from the author is to use your own empirical approach and observation when deciding on using “Cry it out” method. In my case 30+ years ago, it caused hernia to pop out in my 4-month-old son when I left him for few hours in care of someone who decided to try such method. Doctor at the hospital told that some kids are more susceptible to hernia than others, so crying could trigger it.
Conclusion – this is a book for new parents to guide, think, and make mindful decisions to benefit wellbeing of their babies.
Pdf that comes with the book brings an added value as a diary/planning tool.

All the stuff people never bothered to tell you!
I feel like other parents do a bad job of telling new parents how had sleep training is. Maybe they're still too tired - lol. But it's a thing every parent goes through, and it's not easy. That's why I sought this book out, and why I think it's so great. It's got both the science of what works, and personal anecdotes to back it all up. Really chock full of great ideas that put your mind at ease. Recommend!!

Informative
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I really enjoyed listening to this. I have been having some trouble with my toddler constantly walking in the middle of the night and also taking only 30-45 mins nap during the day. I know he needs to be on a sleep schedule but I was running out of ideas on how to accomplish this. I’m glad I read it to get a some fresh ideas that I will for sure be instituting to try and get my toddler back on a sleep schedule. I definitely recommend to any struggling parent’s or some to be parents or guardians that need help with sleep training their like ones. Very good read and very informative.
