Story
A girl with a secret. Longbill Beach, 1982. Emily Vaughn gets ready for the prom. For an athlete, who is smart, pretty and well-liked, this night that should be the highlight of her high school career. But Emily has a secret. And by the end of the evening, that secret will be silenced forever. Forty years later, Emily’s murder remains a mystery. Her tight-knit group of friends closed ranks; her respected, wealthy family retreated inwards; the small town moved on from her grisly attack. But all that’s about to change.

A master storyteller at his best - the O. Henry Prize winner Stephen King delivers a generous collection of stories, several of them brand-new, featuring revelatory autobiographical comments on when, why, and how he came to write (or rewrite) each story. Magnificent, eerie, utterly compelling, these stories comprise one of King's finest gifts to his constant fan. "I made them especially for you," says King. "Feel free to examine them, but please be careful. The best of them have teeth."

*My name is Ellis DeAngelo.* I tend to get caught in the midst of trouble quite often. I'm an unlucky guy, but fortunate to have friends to help me out. These aren't the memoirs of a geisha you'll be hearing. And most definitely not some soul-searching discovery that depicts eating, praying, and loving. This is so much better...or worse, depending on your perspective.

At Mile 81 on the Maine turnpike is a boarded up rest stop, a place where high school kids drink and get into the kind of trouble high school kids have always gotten into. It’s the place where Pete Simmons goes when his older brother, who’s supposed to be looking out for him, heads off to the gravel pit to play “paratroopers over the side”. Pete, armed only with the magnifying glass he got for his 10th birthday, finds a discarded bottle of vodka in the boarded up burger shack and drinks enough to pass out.

Story
Teenager Amanda Castle was like a lot of people, posting pictures of her everyday life to a variety of social media sites. Not everyone who viewed her pictures was there to share in her experiences. One was there to steal her profile pictures. A terrorist in Frankfurt was desperate to please his leadership. He planned the perfect attack, one in which vulnerable people would be invited through social media to participate in a flash mob. There, the unwitting participants, thinking they were taking part in a random act of kindness, would find themselves engaged in a random act of terror.

"My name is Mike Ross. I'm a Ferryman. I help people with ghost problems, or ghosts with people problems. Funny thing, no one ever helps me with my problems. Civil War ghosts bent on killing me, Skinwalkers who just want my body, and a vindictive spirit linked both to my bloodline and my destiny... It turns out the dead still hold a good deal of influence over the world, and they don't want to give it up. I'm in way over my head. Fortunately, I'm too stubborn to quit."

She is going blind, courtesy of an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, and has only a decade or so before lights-out. Instead of making preparations as the doctor suggests, Kear decides to carpe diem and make the most of the vision she has left. This book is a hoot!
What made the experience of listening to Baby Hater the most enjoyable?
I wanted to dislike the anti-hero, but I couldn't. I actually found myself rooting for her! What does that say about me? hmmmmmmm
What was one of the most memorable moments of Baby Hater?
When the original Baby Hater meets her copycat.
What does Kamryn Russell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She brought the characters to life, great emotion and timing. Really made you feel like you were a part of the events as they unfolded.
Any additional comments?
Entertaining short story for those of us with short attention spans. MUCH more entertaining that I was expecting.

Strange but very good. Kinda "Fight Club"-ish.
Where does Baby Hater rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
So far Baby Hater is in my top 20 books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not sure if I have a favorite character but the Original Baby Hater was sick yet understandable.
Which scene was your favorite?
The chaotic park scene where the Original Baby Hater, Prudence, and the group of young girls all scramble to punch the same baby.
If you could rename Baby Hater, what would you call it?
I don't think I would re-name it. The name fits perfectly.
Any additional comments?
Enjoyable. As I said in the headline, it very loosely follows in the thought patterns of "Fight Club".

Could not get into this story
For those who find lots of language funny in a story, this would be for you. I didn't realize that the F-bomb would be used in what felt like every third sentence. I thought this would be a cute and funny read, but it did not appeal to me. I think another reader would enjoy more than me. Well read, and the premise was funny, but the excessive foul language was too off-putting to me.

WTF?
This book takes first place for having the lousiest plot of any book I've ever read. Ever! Spoiler alert: She punches a baby in the face. It's on the news. She punches another baby in the face and blogs about it. She gets a few sick followers and a copycat "baby hater" that gets caught. End of story. No way to recover the time you wasted reading it.
