About this listen

You ever wonder how things really work in life. I never did, but the events of my life have led me without intending to, find out. As a child, I had dyslexia and all I ever wanted to do was write. After trying every possible method of overcoming it known to teachers and other professionals, I unintentionally stumbled upon the unconventional. My journey led me to Taoism and into a world that perhaps many know about but very few really understand or have had the opportunity to experience firsthand. In the beginning, the process was as uncertain as it was unexpected. Life has a way of taking on its own momentum and after a series of unexpected events, I found myself studying in an informal temple. Many more years of unexpected, unforeseen, and at times, undisclosed experiences lead me to finally overcome dyslexia. Going through the process was the adventure of my life. I discovered the workings of the mind at a level that few people ever have a chance to know. This book is the first of a series where I shared my experiences. It is my very personal journey into the world of what I have come to call – what lies beneath the surface. I have chosen to write this book as a narrative fiction to make it more readable; however, it remains for the most part factual. There are few embellishments and most of the changes made are to the timelines of events or to the number of characters. These changes are intended not to alter any actual events but are intended to make the experience more pleasurable for the reader. Come join me in a wonderful world of altered states of awareness and surprising feats of the mind and body. Fast-moving, unpredictable, and held together by realistic characters it is very readable. Some of the experiences shared may seem a little extraordinary in the beginning, but later on, you will see that they begin to make more sense. Master begins with Daniel, a Taoist Monk experiencing society for the first time after being in a temple for twelve years. His heightened awareness allows him to experience the world he thought he knew with heightened intensity. As he is spending time with a woman in a theater, he remembers an amazing retreat that he had accidentally gone to. The experience was intense and like nothing, he had ever known before. It shows the world of Taoism through the skeptical eyes of an average kid. The process opens up his awareness in ways he could never have imagined and allows him to get a glimpse of a world he never knew existed. This first book gives the reader a sense of what initially led him to enter a temple. This experience along with the years he spent in the temple opened him up to a fundamental reality he never knew existed. The discoveries empowered him in ways that allowed him to determine the direction he wanted his life to go in.
