About this listen
Epochē, in Greek philosophy, “suspension of judgment,” a principle originally espoused by nondogmatic philosophical Skeptics. They proposed that when controversy arises, an attitude of noninvolvement should be adopted in order to gain peace of mind for daily living.
Today’s mass mediated minds are in a state of perpetual mind war fought through and over the culture, news media, and the institutions that shape our worldviews.
The ubiquitous screens place us at the front lines of the mind war; we are in the moment and rushed to react to events as they occur rather than wait to judge them based upon the facts.
Mind war casualties are emotionally invested, reactionary, and fall prey to all manner of media fakery and have nothing to show for it but poor discernment, an inverted epistemology, and probably worst of all, they lose their peace of mind.
