About this listen
Occasional Poems is a collection of my poetry from across the years. I have been writing poetry and prose since the early 1980s. So, if you like the weird and wonderful, surreal or spiritual, romantic or dystopian, relaxing or disturbing, pretentious or profound, feel free to dive in and try one of my collections. Who knows, you might like one or two poems. You might even think a couple are quite good.
A little bit about me now. I currently live in sunny Poole, in Dorset, but grew up in Hampshire’s Dibden Purlieu, on the edge of the New Forest. But I have nomadic tendencies and have since lived throughout the Middle East, as well as other parts of Asia, SE Asia, and North Africa. I’m a lover of Arab and Indian culture, and also a lover of hot climes and even hotter, spicy food, though not a lover of cold weather or cold people. Now I'm well into my fifth decade on planet earth, yet still wondering what I'll do with my life when I grow up.
Here's a sample of what's in-store:
‘’Seance‘’
See them gather
Around the table of power
To call upon forces
That neglect the hour.
Revealed to be lies
We can but try
To understand the demons
That lurk close by.
As if in a seance
Communicating through trance
Open to all options
Except a last chance.
Desperately needed
Another direction
To take a hand
To pull us out
To lead us out
And find a way.
To reject the spectre
That still lingers and decays.
