About this listen

My name is Missouri Cotton, and I was born into a family of thieves.

From her opening words, it's obvious Missouri Cotton is no ordinary 15-year-old. Arriving with her memorable family in Louisiana's No Man's Land, she discovers an area of great beauty, deep secrets, and expansive isolation. The Cotton family wanders into an ongoing local feud between encroaching outsiders and the local Ten Milers Redbones, a mixed Indian group.

As the Crow Flies is my 13th book. It is historical fiction that takes place in frontier Louisiana in 1881.

The narrator brings the story to life! Of all the audio books I have listened to over the years, this one held my attention the best and was the easiest to follow. The character presentations were amazing!

Amazing audio rendition of the characters!

Perhaps it's a good story, but I couldn't get beyond the screeching, weird cadence of the performance. Check chapter 40 out. There are clicks and different tries at a sentence. In normal voice the speaker is quite good, but she tried too hard to do different voices. It totally destroyed the story for me. Couldn't finish.

Perhaps it's a good story...but performace is bad.
