Not sure what language narrator was trying to speak- inflections were weird - does Avonlea really have 4 syllables? I want to know!

Narration so awkward it spoils the story!

My only issue is that it really bothered me every time the narrator read "Avonlea" and pronounced it "A-vawn-lee-Ah" when it's just "A-vawn-lee". Being half Islander half Nova Scotian I'm very aware of it's proper pronunciation so it was like nails on a chalkboard every time. was actually sort of painful not going to lie.

Wrong pronunciation

The narrator reads like William Shatner but with a very annoying, deep voice. The pausing during quotes is unbearable. He pronounces words wrong like Avonlea as ah-von-lee-a. His character voices are horrible, both male and female.

Classic, terrible narration

It was nice to hear a continuation of Anne’s story but it is just no comparison to the original Anne of green gables. I also didn’t care for the narrator—he was pretty monotonous and dry.

Not as good as Anne of Green Gables!

The narrator took alot away from the story. The performance seemed stilted and the pauses in the reading began to get on my nerves. I am sure in other types of books this is fine but with the Green Gable series needs a certain flow to it. I would suggest that one looks for another narrator when purchasing this book and other books in the Green Gable series.

I love the story but....

The Anne of Green Gables books are wonderful and Anne of the Island is one of my favorites!! That being said, the narrator almost ruins these books! His strange speech patterns, awkward pauses and creepy voices he uses for different characters made me cringe through the entire book!!

Great book! HORRID narration!!

The wondrous affairs of Anne’s college years is perfectly worded and filled with moments that capture your heart and imagination. All of this was captivating despite the flawed performance. But, I wonder if it was due to a technological problem yielding a halting an extremely awkward reading. As stated, it still didn’t and couldn’t curtail my interest in such a fine story and such a fine heroine as Anne of the Island.

Marvelous story in spite of marred performance

Wonderful

The story was great. I love this book series. However, it is not fitting that a guy should narrate the series at all. He has too deep of a voice for me to be able to understand what he is saying, and he talks too softly. I can barely hear him. Otherwise, the story is great. I would recommend this book to my aunt Beckey.

Great story but horrible performance
