About this listen

She found Anne Frank's diary and brought the world a message of love and hope.

For more than two years, Miep Gies and her husband helped hide the Franks from the Nazis. Like thousands of unsung heroes of the Holocaust, they risked their lives each day to bring food, news, and emotional support to the victims. From her own remarkable childhood as a World War I refugee to the moment she places a small, red-orange, checkered diary -- Anne's legacy -- in Otto Frank's hands, Miep Gies remembers her days with simple honesty and shattering clarity. Each page rings with courage and heartbreaking beauty.

A complete story is told

I have heard about Anne Frank all my life and read the story when I was a younger woman. Going to travel to Amsterdam I booked the Anne Frank house museum tour. I was curious to know more about the totality of the circumstances for the Frank family. This book does such a good job telling the story About the Frank family but also what it was like to live during World War II in the Netherlands. It was so instructive about the bravery of the people that were part of the resistance. It is essential to read about the suffering that happened at the hands of the Nazis and an authoritarian government.

I thought the narration was excellent. It was so easy to listen to. It completed the story of Anne Frank. I recommend recommended highly..

Amazing narrator, great writing! Love the new POV from one of the helper! Sad story for two amazing young girls (Anne and Margot).

Profile in Bravery and Courage

I had so many questions after visiting the Anne Frank museum and hiding place. This book helped to answer questions and provide prospective of life in occupied Amsterdam. The bravery and courage described in the book are an inspiration. Everyone should read this extraordinary memoir.

Excellent narrative from the helpers of that time!

I found Anne’s story as a 5th grade student when it was first released. I added this story when I discovered it after it won a Best Documentary in 96 & I was watching with two young girls from my neighborhood.

When it won they said, “Who’s Anne Frank?”

I was agog! I said,” We’re fixing this now!” And bought both of them Anne’s diary. We talked about it when we had time together.

Personally I studied EVERYTHING. Including buying this book in print and watching the movie.

Narrator is soothing, but it’s gut wrenching knowing how this world is moving in the same direction again. I’m disabled now.

Just a few weeks after studying her story so deeply in 96 I received a severe TBI & epilepsy. While in the hospital the doctors wanted to send me home, but my mother got through to me I wasn’t well and these doctors, who I thought were Nazis were asking my mom to take me home. She refused.
I’m sorry to write my story here.

Thank you Miep Gies

A must listen. A beautifully read, updated version of Anne Frank Remembered... words that will forever live in my heart. Thank you Miep for your courage and may God forever bless all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to hide the Jews during WWII. And thanks to Alison Leslie Gold for bringing Miep's story to us so that this horror of all horrors will never be forgotten.
