About this listen
From two-time Edgar Award-winning author Steve Hamilton, An Honorable Assassin is another terrifying thriller featuring the unstoppable Nick Mason.
He was released from federal prison to a second life as an unwilling assassin, serving a major Chicago crime lord until the day he finally won his freedom.
But that freedom was a lie.
Now Mason finds himself on a plane to Jakarta, promoted to lead assassin for a vast shadow organization that reaches every corner of the globe. This time, there’s only one name on his list: Hashim Baya—otherwise known as the Crocodile—international fugitive and #1 most wanted on Interpol’s “Red Notice” list. Baya is the most dangerous and elusive criminal Mason has ever faced.
And for the first time in his career … Mason fails his mission. Baya gets away alive.
There’s only one thing he can do now: to save himself, his ex-wife, and his daughter, he must make this mission his life, hunting down the target on his own. But Mason isn’t alone in his search, because for Interpol agent Martin Sauvage, apprehending Baya has become a personal vendetta. Sauvage is a man just as haunted as Mason. And just as determined.
Never have the stakes been so high, the forces surrounding him so great. Sauvage wants Baya in prison. Mason needs him in a body bag. Assassin and cop are on a five-thousand-mile collision course, leading to a brutal final showdown—and the one man in the world who can finally show Nick Mason the way to freedom.

Neither cosmic philosopher Lars Soren, hotshot pilot Bianca Petrescu, nor the high priestess Jessica McHugh—Lady Death herself—can say quite where in the galaxy they are. But after an experiment gone horribly wrong, one thing is clear: Asphodel Station isn’t in orbit around Jupiter any longer. Story
Described as both “one of the most important novels ever written” and “the gospel of evil,” 120 Days of Sodom was written by the Marquis de Sade, a notorious eighteenth-century aristocrat who waged a campaign of mayhem and debauchery across France, evaded execution, and inspired the word “sadism,” which came to mean receiving pleasure from pain. Despite all his crimes, Sade considered this work to be his greatest transgression.

Story
I had it all: a fantastic husband, two great kids, an exciting career. And then, at the age of forty-three, I found out I would be dead before my next birthday. My mother also died young. I was seventeen, and she warned me that women would flock to my suddenly single father like stray cats to an overturned milk truck. They did. And one absolutely evil woman practically destroyed his life, mine, and my sister’s. I am not letting that happen to my family. I have three months, and I plan to spend every waking minute searching for the perfect woman to take my place as Alex’s wife.

The Nick Mason Novels are Fun
The main plot of this book, not so much. But it does set up a nice sequel from the 2ndary plot. I will be keeping an eye out.

Drop off in quality
The biggest strength of this series was taken away by going international. The stories were much better when it was focused on Chicago.

The setting in Indonesia was very interesting.
I disliked the F$$$ word used took often by the main character. The reader was talented but the delivery seemed to be overly dramatic

Another kind of Good Guy!!!
I read this book first now I want to read books 1-2! Mason is an assassin however with a good sense of right and wrong. He’s complex which makes the book enjoyable. I loved that I wasn’t able to figure everything out and a few crucial elements were a surprise at the end. I had suspicions but it was delightful to see how they played out. I hope this series continues for many more books!!!!

Honorable Assassin
Just not at the same caliber as the first two books, which I loved. This one almost felt like a short story that was elongated. Yet when I thought the main character could get out of the fix he was in, he did!! So it was entertaining.

Ehhh
I had been waiting for the book since the last one came out but the author switched publishers and all the headaches that come with that so I guess after all that waiting my expectations were really high. It wasn’t bad but after waiting 7 years I thought it would be better. The story is short on character building in the beginning then really sags in the middle but comes through in the end. Ray Porter as always was amazing.
