About this listen

For a people-pleasing New Yorker and a disagreeable (if seriously hot) Brit, it’s love at fourth sight in a funny and emotional romantic comedy by a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author.

Tuesday Reynolds’s dreamy life in Manhattan has gone belly-up. Ditched by her college sweetheart and with her Wall Street banking job at risk, she’s off to London to prove herself to a new CEO. Plans change when Tuesday meets Ben Kelley, a wealthy, scowly, and movie-star-handsome stranger. He’s just missing one thing to make his professional dreams come true.

What does Ben need? Oh, just a fake fiancée to impress a duke and duchess. What’s in it for Tuesday? Enough money to put a down payment on an apartment back in New York, a new wardrobe, and a weekend in the country at the stately home of the duke and duchess. The Bridgerton vibes are absolutely off the charts.

Everything between Ben and Tuesday is completely professional, until the rehearsals for their weekend romance start to feel…almost authentic.

It’s official. Tuesday’s life has been hijacked by a rom-com scriptwriter. But the best love stories aren’t the ones on the big screen. Maybe they’re the real ones that sneak up on you when you least expect it.

Critic reviews

An American in London is an absolute delight! Full of some of my favorite tropes and set in one of my favorite cities, this is the perfect book to enjoy at the beach or by the pool. A fun and frothy read I couldn't put down!”—Falon Ballard, USA Today bestselling author of Change of Heart

Okay, so I *read* this story one and *listened* twice in the last 2 months because … swooooooonfest (lol) plus, I really love 🩷🎙️Erin Mallon🎙️🩷 and 💙✍️Louise Bay✍️💙 so it was no hardship! #winning (Thank you, Montlake (Amazon Publishing) and Brilliance Publishing for the ARC & ALC) :)

You guys, Louise Bay makes me happy. I know I’ve said a bunch of other times but now I’m adding something more lol. She makes me happy not just because her stories make me swoon and smile, but because I’ve been reading/listening to her stories since the wheel was square and she has grown her craft as the years progressed, but I can still go way back to one of her first books and feel the same love I do today. LISTEN, that’s rare. Everyone grows and everyone goes through stages in their life and sometimes what “was” is not the same in the “now”. Totally normal, but with Louise, what “was” is the “now” as well and that just makes me happy.

But I digress LOL Lets’ talk about An American in London specifically! Well, I’ve already told you it was a complete swoonfest for me, so there’s that. It’s a “happy” story. It’s sweet with just the right amount of sexy. It’s entertaining, heartfelt and heartwarming. I liked the storyline “almost” all the time, but those “almost” aren’t significant enough to talk about in detail. If you’re looking for a sweet, feel good romance, here you are!

There was nothing I didn’t love about this book. In fact this is one of my top reads/ listens from Louise Bay.

I fell hard and fast for American Tuesday Reynolds and British billionaire Ben Kelley, who just happens to look like her teenage crush actor Daniel De Luca.

They met by accident, a case of mistaken identity and what follows was an entertaining, feel good story that had me smiling throughout.

With very little angst, I was invested in Tuesday and Ben’s story from the first chapter.

The narration by Erin Mallon was entertaining and they she did a fantastic job. Not only did she bring all the romance, humour, passion and tension of the story to life but she did justice to this emotional story with voices that are easy to listen

Loved it

An absolute 5 star must read alert. I'm still trying to come down from the absolute high that these characters gave me. Tuesday was a pure delight, her positive outlook on life despite some awful things happening to her was just the breath of fresh air Ben needed. She was very much the light in his darkness. Their connection, banter, chemistry, and tension was phenomenal! I truly loved this story from page one to the final chapter. It had all the feels, I laughed out loud several times at the back and forth banter. Then I cried at the heartwarming moments. If you love a sassy heroine, a sexy hero, a fake relationship romance, and a whole lot of laughs this a must read book!

Erin Mellon does an amazing job portraying Tuesday & Ben, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. She does more than giving their characters their voices, she falls into the roles and becomes the characters.

I was just trying to be cute with the title because this is a British story taking place in London. the story really was absolutely lovely though I adore this story. I thought Erin Mallon did an awesome job with the audio she plays quirky very well and this character was a little quirky you know an American in London. in fact I kind of thought this was a definitely different story for Louise Bay because I'm so used to her alpha male and the guy is a very much alpha male grumpy millionaire but it just hit different not a bad different very good different actually I love this story so much it was so fun. Both characters had passed issues that they had to work through and Um she I played this story out so well. I enjoy this story with entertaining it was funny at times sad at times it just was a great story and I absolutely loved it and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

lovely

One narrator, seriously? It too much for only one narrator! I could finish it! Sorry.

Not my favorite Louise Bay audiobook!

The delivery of the book was great. The story technically was great too but it felt like I was viewing a replica of a beautiful piece of art. You know it is nice but your intuition and emotional gut doesn’t see anything but a place holder on a wall.
I have no idea what is missing but the book feels like a pretty thing without a soul. I absolutely love this offer and will read anything she puts out but the new cover changes and this title make me think that I am no longer connected with the romance novel clientele if it comes to this. Granted, I generally, do not read romance because I like to live it but this author gave me an insatiable hunger for her love stories because they felt so human, magical, and inspiring all at once but this book…I managed to fall asleep twice and almost forgot to finish it. This has never ever happened with Louis Bay before so I am a bit embarrassed. I like that she is expanding and that change is happening but it feels like the soul and umph that made me fall in love is being refined into more shallow laughs and a story that I am okay missing out on. I love the author’s skill so much that I hope that this is a strategically calculated move to switch to younger people who praise fluffy things without substance because the attention span is short but if it is not then hopefully my feedback is taken with love and she has a deep sit down with her book team to bring the substance back. I think of it as the difference between Pretty Little Liars that took a month to move the plot one day forward because of all of the commercials verses Vampire Diaries or The Originals which both had so much depth and back story. Ok, my review is done. If you Love Louis Bay I say get it because it is good and we want to support her work ☺️

I don’t think I am the target customer anymore.
