An exciting, suspenseful dip into darkness!
*** What a ride! *** (I can't wait to hear the conclusion!)
This was exciting, engrossing, and engaging from beginning to end. Enough to have me making a pre-order for the conclusion. I became so absorbed in the story that I found myself talking out loud to the characters! There were even a few times I had to stop the book and take my mind out the darkness for a few moments, but it was so engrossing I couldn't stop until I finished.
The story centers around a young lady named Sofie Danner, who was stolen from her family by a psychopath named Jabe (I hope I'm spelling that correctly). This man has grown up in the cult ran community of Royston. It's a community of men who rule with anarchy, narcissistic, and pedophiles tendencies. They are very much sociopaths and psychopaths who live by their specific brand of law and order. However, Sofie has been rescued and has grown up away from this environment. With the help of her father, Cole, she has worked hard to move into a life of some normalcy, which does not last long. Jabe is on the hunt for her with the desire to bring this disbanded community back into existence with Sofie as his wife.
Sofie receives unexpected help from March Franklin, who has become somewhat of a vigilante and is hunting Jabe. March uses a form of ESP to "follow" the pull of Jabe's dark soul as well as others. He finds himself helping Sofie to try and stop Jabe before he can revise his cult community and bring Sofie to his side as his bride.
IT WAS GREAT! It's just what I look for in a thriller. It was suspenseful, had me on the edge of my seat, kept my stomach in knots, and quickly pushed my anxiety level to the max. It was scary at times but exciting with the action. I am looking forward to the conclusion! Well worth a credit and a preorder! Great job, Mr. Dove!
