Lewis Carroll
About this listen
The most mysterious of twists, turns, and amusing misfortunes occur in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel, Through the Looking Glass. In the first book, we are introduced to the origins of Alice's journey, as she encounters the elusive White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Queen of Hearts, and, of course, the guests of the Mad Tea Party. Alice must rely on her wit and place her trust in the characters along the way to navigate the very obscure - and at times very frustrating - obstacles that stand in her way of moving throughout Wonderland.
In Through the Looking Glass, the novel that follows, Alice enters Looking-Glass World, which is the exact mirror copy of her world, except it is all backwards. More obstacles face her as she attempts to navigate this new land, which is set up to model a chessboard that she must play her way across in order to return home. The question that lingers at the end of both novels is whether or not all of her experiences were a mere figment of her imagination, a simple dream that felt real, or did these events in fact take place?

Story
When Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm published their Children's and Household Tales in 1812, followed by a second volume in 1815, they had no idea that such stories as "Rapunzel", "Hansel and Gretel", and "Cinderella" would become the most celebrated in the world. Yet few people today are familiar with the majority of tales from the two early volumes, since in the next four decades the Grimms would publish six other editions, each extensively revised in content and style.

Story
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

brilliant narration
Would you consider the audio edition of Alice In Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass to be better than the print version?
if Ben Lawson narrated every audiobook on Audible, I would buy every audiobook on Audible
I bought Oliver Twist after listening to the Alice series and the man is a master of voices. And he certainly is working with some top shelf talent
Have you listened to any of Ben Lawson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I would listen to anything he narrated.

Want to know what being high is like? Listen to this book!
I genuinely do not understand why this is considered a classic. It reads like an acid trip taken after you have started smoking weed. There is no rhyme or reason to any part of the stories at any point in time. I could not listen to more than about half an hour at a time because I felt like I was high despite being completely sober.
If thats what you are looking for, well, I suppose I can recommend it then. I suppose really small children would like it as well. Perhaps I am just not part of the target audience then.
