Dr. Lawson has a strong academic background, serving as a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has also held faculty positions at various esteemed institutions throughout his career.
Dr. Lawson has received numerous national accolades for his contributions to mental health, including awards from organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association and the National Medical Association. With over 200 publications to his name, he has made significant research contributions in the field. Currently serving as the President of the Senior Psychiatrists, Inc. of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Lawson continues to work diligently to address mental and substance abuse disparities. His extensive expertise and dedication have earned him a respected reputation within the mental health community.
