About this listen
Frankie Chasing Bear is caught between cultures. She wants to raise her son Harold to revere his Lakota heritage, but she knows he will need to learn the white man's ways to succeed. After the untimely death of her husband, Frankie joins the US Government's Relocation Program and moves to Arizona. There she begins sewing a Lakota Star pattern quilt for Harold with tribal wisdom sung, sewn, and prayed into it. A bed without a quilt is like a sky without stars, but neither the quilt - nor her new life - comes easily to Frankie.
Nick Vandergriff, for instance, is the last man Frankie wants to trust. He's half-Lakota but Christian, and Frankie can see no good coming from that faith after her own parents were forced to convert at an Indian school. Can Nick convince Frankie that white men and Christians aren't all bad? And will Frankie learn that love is the most important ingredient - for her son's quilt and life itself?

Story
After a tornado rips through her town, store owner Abigail comes across a piece of fabric from a wedding dress among the devastation. Abigail is moved to start collecting other swatches of fabric she finds - her neighbor’s kitchen curtains, a man’s necktie, a dog’s bed - which she stashes in shopping bags. As she pursues her seemingly absurd quest, horrible realities spark the question, “What kind of a God would allow such tragedy?”

What happens when danger and love collide under a Navajo moon? The search for a woman who disappeared in 1906 has lead cultural anthropologist Erin Dawson to Cedar Canyon, where the iconic terrain of red rock walls and mesas keep Navajo traditions - and maybe criminal evidence - well hidden. Sweet Contemporary Romance
This is an odd story in that it's so foreign to me. It's set in modern times between Native Americans and Americans. While is claims to be a Christian story, the Natives have a blend of Christianity that seems to believe the Ancestors give them insight and answer prayers. it's very confusing.
Outside that aspect, it was an interesting story. I appreciate the forgiveness near the end, and her acceptance of faith in the One True God.
The narration was very good!

Great story of love & forgiveness
I appreciate the author’s story about Native Americans in the backdrop of AZ. Characters are developed well in the story and shed light on the huge challenges they have faced. Faith is skillfully woven into the narrative, as well as romance that has you cheering at the end.
Recommend this author, and this audiobook.

stand alone but also included
This is actually a part of a series of great novels that actually keeps you immersed in what's going on next for these characters. Only downfall, not long enough, I love extremely lengthy stories personally, but, it does continue with more characters in other segments and a wonderful read.

Could have been a nice story
I don’t know if it was the writing or the reading. But this book was very difficult to get through. The character Frankie, had no substance. The character was very ignorant and immature.
