About this listen
Highly decorated Chicago firefighter Trick Quinn is renowned for his charmed life. No victims have ever died on his watch, he cherishes his wife and daughters’ love, and he even won the lottery the first time he bought a ticket. His luck disintegrates when he’s accused of depraved acts, plunging him into disgrace. Every attempt to prove his innocence sucks him further into a warped nightmare that threatens his job, his freedom, and his family.
Dutiful Zamira Bey is at an unenviable crossroads: choosing between finding her happiness and restoring her Muslim family’s honor. When the notoriously savage firefighter becomes a court-ordered client, the paradox between the honorable man and the allegations ignites her curiosity. Not only is her growing attraction unwelcome but threatens her career and guarantees community ostracism.
Bound by their common battles, Trick and Zamira fight to uncover the truth and protect their families, all while facing a growing vigilante threat in a city shaken by terror.

Narration is a struggle for me as it has been the whole series. Elizabeth Russell does a wonderful job but in here her Trick voice was not my fav. Michael’s vocals are just too low for me.
Wow! Very suspenseful

Sarah Andre is a gifted author who includes an impressive amount of details as she builds her stories and her writing, plot and world building are incredible. This third book of her “Damage Heroes” book is Patrick “Trick” Quinn and Zamira Bey’s story, a romantic suspense that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Trick loves his wife, his daughters and his job, and he thought everything in his life was on solid ground, but he gets the rug gets pulled out from under him when allegations are made against him. None of them are true and he is not sure what to make of them and was in denial at first, but as the pieces fall together, thanks to his brother and those who believed him, he learns who he really married. Assigned to the case, Zamira was supposed to stay neutral, but she sensed something was not right in Trick’s case and the allegation made. The longer she spent time with him, the more convinced she became. Trick had some good people in his corner, but it was an uphill battle trying to prove his innocence, and it took a team to figure it out. Zamira had her own inner battles going on, trying to remain a dedicated to her religion and her family, who had a lot riding on her dutifulness. There is never a dull moment in this book and the story has plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and the start of a new friendship and romance. Sarah Andre, thanks for another intriguing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
