About this listen

For nearly 14 years, Rowland has tried to forget, but now the past has returned. A newly discovered gun casts light on a family secret long kept...a murder the Sinclairs would prefer stayed unsolved.

As old wounds tear open, the dogged loyalty of Rowland’s inappropriate companions is all that stands between him and the consequences of a brutal murder...one he simply failed to mention.

Sinclair Family Mustery

Roland and Wilfred’s relationship comes to a head—and they finally learn about their father’s shooting 13 years previous.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the narrator, my first time audio Sinclair book.

Still Love this Series ... but ...

I still love this series ... but ... a few glaring things persist that I can't help but comment on. As I and others have mentioned in previous reviews, we have all absolutely, positively had enough of hearing about Rowland's paragon of womanhood - Ed! Enough already. Kudos that she hasn't changed AT ALL over the books so far, as it would be deeply disturbing if she were to suddenly realize that she has loved him all along, but for the love of God I beg you to stop showcasing his total ineptness around her other world beauty (or even just her proximity!). They are never going to be a couple. Great. Due to his boundless unrequited love, he refuses to pair off with anyone else - outstanding! However, he doesn't then get to hide behind the perceived kindness of social graces of the time period to not be crystal clear with the poor (as in pathetic, not in terms of personal wealth), silly girls who have no choice but to try and snag an (more often than not) unwilling husband by any means necessary. Time and time again after the dimwit "doesn't get his subliminal message", Rowland explodes and delivers a much crueler blow that was entirely avoidable. As to the narration, the men's voices are spot on, but more and more the women's voices are bordering on cartoonish. Nice job introducing some heretofore unknown historical elements to the characters backstories which contributed to yet another new and exciting mysterious adventure. And I think the groundwork for a much deeper buried Easter Egg continues to be laid, but we shall see!
