About this listen
As the granddaughter of the Earl of Richmond, Lady Amelia Montford is never in want of dance partners. Even though she finds the gentlemen tedious, she is always guaranteed good company for one set—her dance with the agreeable and handsome Sir Anthony Greene. Despite falling madly in love with the dashing baronet during her first season, Sir Anthony has become a devoted friend and confidante. Yet of late, he has behaved oddly and has even declared he is attached to a lady! Amelia is dumbfounded. Sir Anthony claims he is in love with her? No, he could not be, not after all this time. She loved him once, but he broke her heart all those years ago. How is it possible to fall in love with someone a second time, with her best friend?
Sir Anthony Greene had not expected Amelia to react with such shock to his revelation. Worse, when it is bandied about London that he had an assignation in the garden with her at the Marquess of Ormonde’s ball, her reputation is in tatters, so they must marry. He finds himself resigned to a life with a lady he loves but who considers him no more than a friend in return! Such an existence will be a torture!
In the meantime, an old lover of Anthony’s father returns to town. Lady Lincoln holds secrets that can unravel any progress Anthony has made in his quest to win Amelia’s heart. Can Anthony thwart Lady Lincoln’s attempts to ruin his hopes of gaining Amelia’s regard? Can he prove himself a gentleman of worth?

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." These were the words that defined Fitzwilliam Darcy's young life. Any measure of integrity, honor, loyalty—these were secondary considerations to the size of a bachelor's estate. The only lady to esteem his genuine character was now lost forever, and he must face his future alone.

Story
Mr. George Knightley. According to Emma Woodhouse, you won’t see one in a hundred who is so clearly the gentleman. Respected by all, he’s kind, unpretentious, and scrupulously honest, with an air so remarkably good that it’s unfair to compare other men to him. We also know he’s been his “own master” from a young age. But Jane Austen tells us little more.

second chances
This story is the second book in this series but can be listened as a standalone. You don't really need to listen/read book 1 to pick up on this story. This story is a second chance romance between the h and H. the h was interested in the H as soon as she came out to society but, for personal reasons, the H wasn't ready to marry. they are forced to marry to save her reputation and go through the motions of a happy marriage in public even though both of them really love each other. The story is well written and the narrator did a great job.

Good story, decent narrator
When I began this book, I was uncertain about the narrator. she doesn't do a bad job, but it is a little slow and I had to speed up the audio a little bit. The story is quite good, except it is held back by the conclusion of the Lady Lincoln issue. which seemed rushed. There were also many, many times during the story where I rolled my eyes and thought, "Oh my god get over it Amelia, you're being freaking ridiculous". Her whining was really irritating and that's really the only thing that brought this down from five stars.

Loved it!
I'm an really enjoying this series. This is book 2 of 3. The first book was mostly about Lizzy and Darcy. They are also in this continuation but they are side characters. If you read the first of the series then you know the wonderful character development for all the Montford cousins and their grandparents. In this book, Amelia is the FMC and Sir Anthony is the MMC. I enjoyed the characters' journey and how they learned to confess their feelings. It is a forced marriage story, but without toxic animosity. It was nice that they were able to have comfortable interactions as a married couple to build their relationship and deal with London society. It is an engaging audiobook and Ms. Diamond is an excellent writer and story teller. After reading the first of the series i was definitely looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommend!

Sir Anthony and Lady Amelia are so sweet!!
Sir Anthony Greene asks Miss Amelia Montford to court her while they attend a ball. Amelia is surprised and exits to the garden to collect herself with Sir Anthony following. While Amelia’s cousins Elizabeth And Fitzwilliam Darcy are also in the garden rumors abound about Anthony and Amelia leading to marriage much more quickly than either expected.
Anthony is sweet and kind and loving to Amelia and she has secretly been in love with him only denying it to herself. But trouble brews in the form of Lady Lincoln - Sir Anthony’s father’s gaming partner and lover.
Will Lady Lincoln’s machinations drive a wedge between the couple or will others aid in ridding London of the so called Lady?
Lovely story, and excellent narrator. This is part two of the Montford Cousins series but could be read individually but you’ll understand the family dynamics better if you listen in order. For those who don’t like to start series until they’re complete the author plans this as 5 books according to posts around the release of book 4. Book 1 Elizabeth (Bennet) Montford, Book 2 Amelia Montford, Book 3 Nicholas Montford, Book 4 Jane (Bennet) Montford and Book 5 Georgiana Darcy as an honorary Montford by marriage.

Charming and ‘Worthy’ Characters
I was all anticipation waiting for this second book in L.L. Diamond’s series, The Montford Cousins. If you haven’t read An Endeavour to be Worthy, or listened to that audiobook, I highly recommend doing so before starting A Gentleman of Worth, although it can be read as a stand-alone novel.
I loved this brilliant forced marriage plot for a dear couple, Amelia Montford and Sir Anthony Green, who actually love one another, even if one of them can’t acknowledge it right away. The chemistry between them is evident, and the love and camaraderie among all the cousins is fun and pleasing. This favourite author’s proficient writing style is always a given, and again, the estimable portrayal of all her characters and their development is always outstanding which endears the reader to them. Like Lady Rebecca in Ms. Diamond’s books An Unwavering Trust and An Earl’s Conquest, I will surely remember the Montfords of this captivating series with fondness.
An excellent narration by Deborah Balm. She has a lovely tone of voice for both the male and female characters and performs the emotions very well. I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to any audiobook she narrates and glad she has continued as narrator for this series.
Highly recommend
