About this listen
In this Hemingway fiction in our time, author Scott Fivelson takes listeners on a literary journey from Paris to Pamplona, as a marathoner on his last legs reflects on the sport as it might have been written about if Hemingway had been a runner. A Farewell to Legs is both a satire of a classic and a classic satire.

A Timeless Quest - “The Thing With the Legs”
This is an excellent satirical piece. Quick wit, humor, and a great short story.
I love how Ernest Hemingway’s granddaughter reads the story. She captures the essence and humor within, and has an easy voice to listen to.
It’s a fun, quick piece, and makes you think. I think everyone who reads or listens to it will get a different message. It has a flavor all it’s own, but somehow, within the fun story, it’s a motivational piece.
Life is meant to be lived, and this story is an excellent satirical and witty piece that will stick with you.
Keep on running - in whichever way you can through the meandering course of life. But remember to wear your Nike’s, no matter what!

Perfect for a runner
I listened to this while completing a 5 hour run mostly by myself. It was interesting and to an exhausted runner hilarious. Not sure what I would think as a normal non marathon runner human being.

Another wonderful story from Scott Fivelson!
I'm writing this review as someone who isn't a sportswoman of any kind, runner or otherwise, and who also, somehow, made it through school without reading Hemingway. Despite the fact that, certainly, I must have missed many references and jokes that a more knowledgeable reader wouldn't have, this is still an incredibly good story - so well written, sweet, nostalgic, exciting, and very funny! The main character is darling and I love the whimsical way he looks at the world, his life, and his adventures very much. The ending is quite a twist and a clever take on one of life's great questions. This story brings on a surprisingly wide range of emotion and is very touching for one that's also so light-hearted. That dichotomy is particularly pleasurable. I enjoyed this short story very much! Actress Mariel Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway's famous granddaughter, does an incredible job as reader on this, too! Coming from a millennial with a short attention span, she helped keep me engaged throughout the listening time and I appreciated that very much! As always, Scott Fivelson's writing is witty and intelligent, and this incredible combination of elements makes me very glad to have this audiobook in my collection!
