About this listen
‘Fit young men looking for employment
with a difference, at a salary in excess of
$280 per month, should telephone, Johannesburg 55715
during business hours. Employment initially
offered for six months. Immediate start.'

It promised good pay in US dollars and probably danger money. But it also promised risk and adventure; that was what he was looking for. And so it was that as an errant, globetrotting teenager, he signed up with 'Mad Mike' Hoare's 5 Commando. This is the story of 'his year of living dangerously'
