About this listen

 I met Jeannette Walls in January 2006 at The Pulpwood Queens Girlfriend Weekend. We had dinner and I discovered more about the journey that led her to write "The Glass Castle". In March 2006 I interviewed Jeannette on my website, The Kacey Kowars Show. Here, for the first times, is the entire transcript of our 32 minute interview. We cover a wide range of topics (including the James Frey controversy) in addition to the memoir. This interview has been listened to thousands of times by readers all over the world. It has been used on www.teachingbooks.net for the past five years as a way to help high school and college students understand the memoir. The essay also discusses the reaction that my high school students have when reading the book. I have used The Glass castle as a part of my curriculum for the past ten years.
