About this listen
Set in David Drake's Hammer's Slammers universe (with his gracious permission) this is a story about a vectored-thrust (aircar) unit that I developed while deployed in Afghanistan. I decided to write this as a way of staying away from the canon stuff, and wanted to do my own thing. The story is set after The Sharp End, and is commended by Lt. Karen Juniper. She leads the troop fighting the El Cator gang in the mountainous Pollo Mountains. It's a counter-insurgency book, so if you're looking for great space battles, this book isn't for you. But it hightlights the vagaries of mountain warfare in the future.
