 『セロ弾きのゴーシュ』は1934年（昭和9年）、賢治が亡くなって1年後に発表された。
チェロの演奏がなかなか上達しないゴーシュ、夜ごと練習する彼のもとへ様々な動物がやってくる・・。死ぬまで推敲を重ねた賢治の最後の作品とされる名作童話である。
