Tattered Loyalties

I loved this story. I am going through a shifter phase where I would rather listen to or read stories about shifters more than any other sort of story. This one really hit the spot. Brie was fantastic. She is a submissive wolf but a very strong person. Gideon seems to be a bit on the rough side but that made me like him even more. The story was suspenseful yet romantic and I loved every minute of it, even though there were a few moments that I felt the urge to punch a character or two. I can't wait to listen to the next Talon Pack book.

Predictable

It may be me and the fact that I read the Redwood Pack series and several other Werewolf series but the story seems oh so predictable. The one main thing that set this book apart from others, the fact that she was able to rest the call of her mate, for so many years wasn't given the significance it deserved.

Could be better...

This was a hard book to finish. The two factors that really detracted from this were the narrator and the constant sex scenes.

While I expected this book to by Sizzling on the Spicey scale, I felt that the graphic nature of the scenes and the vulgar choice of language werr real detractors from the overall pacing and storytelling. The only scene that I felt was needed was the final scene which was tender and felt like a goal completion. I really wanted to like this series as it had an interesting world and was different than most other shifter worlds I have read. I will not be joining the Talon Pack for further adventures.

a must have

I received the audio for my honest opinion. What can I say besides amazing. I loved the Redwood Pack’s series and it's awesome to see the kids all grown up. This is a must read and listen book. I love the action, the passion and the craziness that is the Talon Pack. This book has it all. If you want a book you can't put down well this is it. Once again Carrie Ann Ryan nails it. This is a 5 star all the way book and audio. For the audio side Gregory Salinas has an amazing voice. This guy could read a dictionary and make it sound good. His voice pulls you into the story in a whole different way. You get chills and goosebumps when you listen to this book. Way to go Gregory Salinas you rock. Carrie Ann Ryan has not only done an amazing job writing but found the most amazing voice to be the narrator . This is a must read and listen to book

Loving the Talon Pack!

Would you listen to Tattered Loyalties again? Why?

Of course! Not only is it well written and voiced book it is a great story! I love how we now can see how the Redwood pack children have grown up.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tattered Loyalties?

Gah! That is hard to say. I like when they first meet face to face at the packs meeting. Even though Bree already knows who he is. How Bree shows her strength after the explosion. And then how they learn that even though Bree isn't a dominate she is a strong wolf and can do what is needed when needed. Even if it soothing dominates or being strong to fight. It show people that you don't have to be strong all the time. It is ok for others to help and lead when needed.

Which character – as performed by Gregory Salinas – was your favorite?

Gideon! His voice is just perfect for character. But I will have to say Gregory Salinas does very well with all voices. When I hear him do a female voice it sounds female, not a man trying to do a female voice. Great Job!!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I did!!!!

To understand who some of the characters are I do suggest reading the redwood books and also Wicked Wolf. Wicked Wolf was pare of the 1,001 Nights books. This will help you understand some of the dynamics going on between characters, not just the main two characters.

The Alpha and his submissive mate

Gregory does awesome with his narration of this book, Gideon is being forced to mate but he now knows who is his chosen but she is a submissive can she be alpha enough? with trators in their pack and with them exposing the packs they know they have more of a fight on their hands

Creatively Done

There's a lot to unpack in this story line. It's new to me: I didn't start with the Redwood Pack series, so I didn't come into this story knowing all the nuances of the characters. Yet I found the story very interesting and enjoyable. The tension between Gideon and Brie was palpable, and it was easy to understand why they didn't seem to belong together. Yet they really do work together quite well. Brie has great strength and excellent qualities that lend themselves well to Gideon's leadership. It was a joy to "watch" that unfold. I enjoy stories that show characters exhibiting great growth, and that definitely happens here, especially with Gideon. Although he's a strong character from the start, he becomes even better as this novel continues. Love that.

I'll be enjoying more of this series. Honestly, for me the only downside was the narration. It was in the "okay" range. Gideon's voicing is great, but there's just something about the phrasing of the sentences that didn't sit real well with me. It sort of reminded me of the old Star Trek episodes when Capt. James T. Kirk would get overly dramatic and start...using a strange...syntax. just. to. make sure. you're actually paying...attention. Sorry. Just my opinion. But it wasn't enough to stop me. I still enjoyed the story and will be continuing with it.

Awesome Shifter Story and Performance!

I've been wanting to try Carrie Ann Ryan for some time now and Tattered Loyalties has been sitting in my Audible Library for months collecting virtual dust. Finally forced myself to listen before Audible's Great Listen Guarantee expired, and WOW, I didn't realize what I've been missing out on! It was awesome, listened almost non-stop, and it's safe to say I won't be returning this one! Very impressed the writing, plot,characters, action, and romance. Looking forward to continuing this shifter series as well as trying other stories by Ryan.

A slightly slow start quickly builds into spellbinding shifter story about an unlikely mating between a dominate alpha and his submissive mate. Gideon, the alpha of the Talon pack, has been hoping for a mate. When he finally finds her, he doesn't think it will work because Brie's a submissive wolf, and he's concerned the pack will not respect or accept her, so he doesn't acknowledge her as his mate. However, the elders think it's time for him to mate for the good of pack, and have chosen another mate for him. Not wanting to mate with anyone else, he reluctantly accepts and acknowledges Brie as his mate. Gideon quickly learns the value of having a submissive wolf as a mate, and how she helps him keep his emotions in check. Brie's aware it will be a challenge being the alpha's mate and is prepared to stand up for herself and prove her worth to the pack, but Gideon is way to protective of her and tries to keep her sheltered. He completely underestimated his mate, and soon learned she was much stronger than what he gave her credit for. Their dominate/submissive qualities actually complimented each other perfectly.

Gregory Salinas did an a fantastic job narrating this story.

Well worth the time, and credit but I'm whispersync junkie! Shifter stories are some my of my favorite PNR and Tattered Loyalties reminded me of a lot of Suzanna Wright's Phoenix Pack. It may not have been as intense, dark or steamy, but it still a worthy listen and well worth the time. If you like Suzanna Wright's Phoenix Pack, then you will definitely want to consider adding this series to your library.

Carrie Ann Ryan has done it again. This is an awesome book. This is the first audible that I've listened to narrated by Gregory Salinas. I must say I was not disappointed! Gregory made this book come to life. I highly recommend this book.
