About this listen
When Roxanne Murdoch took the place of an absent employee to deliver a belly-gram, she never expected to spend New Years Eve locked in a bank with the vice president shed been sent to surprise. Yet here she was, a respectable businesswoman, dressed like a harem girl, barricaded against a howling blizzard with handsome Bram Tyler. Soon he'd cracked her icy facade and melted her reserve. But what would happen at blizzards end when passion faced reality?
Explicit language: The entire book is the story of Roxanne and Bram - the dialogue and verbal sparring between these two is a standout with sexual tension to spare.

Horrible performance!
Would you try another book from Elaine Raco Chase and/or Destiny Landon and Lee James ?
Probably not. The story idea sounded cute but the voices were not a good match. I barely finished this one.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Special Delivery?
I enjoyed the scene where they were playing cards and raiding the vending machine while getting to know each other.
Would you be willing to try another one of Destiny Landon and Lee James ’s performances?
Absolutely not! I haven't ever left a bad review, but I couldn't walk away from this book without warning others. Both male and female vocalists were distracting - not to mention the cheesy music and bizarre "sound effects". The male voice is especially weak. He doesn't speak the lines with any integrity to the story. Every time he tries to convince the heroine that he loves her he sounds like he's making a joke. It kind of ruins the romance. Plus he sounds like he's in his early sixties.
I'm not sure I can even comment on the story - it was hard to follow. The clincher that this wasn't done well is that I fell asleep four times in the last 15 minutes. Please don't spend money on this!!!
Did Special Delivery inspire you to do anything?
No it didn't. I can't imagine what it might inspire. It was a cute plot but not plausible.

Abysmal
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A plot would have made it more enjoyable. I could not even finish it, which is rare for me.
Would you ever listen to anything by Elaine Raco Chase again?
I have as yet to listen to another book by this author, I have one and will get to it soon. It can surely only be an improvement
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Destiny Landon and Lee James ?
From the first syllable, Destiny Landon's voice was like listening to a cat cough up a fur ball, you would do almost anything to make it stop!
What character would you cut from Special Delivery?
All of them, they were shallow and vacuous, helped not at all by the female narrator. I could not even bring myself to wait for the sex scenes, the price was too high.

Bleck!
It was a cute premise and the description intrigued me.
The story was not great. It was supposed to be funny. I did not crack a smile.
The female narrator was terrible; like a robot. And I hated the music between the chapters.

Pure Fun
First, Roxanne has to dress as a harem girl to deliver a message because her employee gets hurt. Then she and the recipient of the message get snowed in and it is just the two of them, lots of funny banter, steam, and the question: How long does it take to fall in love with someone? The two characters were great and this was just a fun, entertaining story.
The audio was very well done. The two narrators were entertaining to listen to and the music and sound effects were a nice touch.

How did this story get any raving reviews?
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I guess when I purchased this story, I must have only read a couple of great reviews and missed the bad ones. This story was in the erotica section. It was not erotic at all. I don't think even better narrators could have made this story into 4 or 5 stars.
What was most disappointing about Elaine Raco Chase’s story?
Mostly the narrators, but the story itself just wasn't all that interesting.
Would you be willing to try another one of Destiny Landon and Lee James ’s performances?
No. And please don't have Lee James ever narrate another romance. He was so inappropriate it's not even funny.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Extreme disappointment.
Any additional comments?
Lee James sounds like he's in his 80's and was supposed to be a man in his 30's. He was a really, really bad choice for this type of book.

Hard to believe
It is hard to believe and get into the characters in the book when the narrators do not fit a mental picture of them. I especially had a hard time with the male narrating the story. He was not very believable as a romantic male character. He just does not fit well, and therefore it was harder to completely finish the book.

Narrators' voices don't match age of characters
I'm sorry, but Lee James' voice doesn't sound like a guy who is in his mid-30's, I had to replay Bram's description to make sure he wasn't as old as James sounded. I forced myself to listen to the book in its entirety, but it was torture. Landon's narration at times was too overly "come hither" or a bad attempt at being sly and seductive.
The recording also doesn't flow, you can hear where parts were cut and placed together or where the recording was stopped and then started to switch between narrators. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this multiple narration book as I have with others. I am hoping that reading the book itself will be more enjoyable.

Narration was awful
The book was good but the narration made me want to yank my eardrums out of my ears! The characters were 30 & 38 not 90. Maybe other 90 yr olds could have done a better job. Thank goodness it’s in the Escape Package.
