About this listen

The most terrifying monsters aren't found in dreams....

Four young socialites have gone missing in the Chicago area. Two found dead, bearing the signature marks of a brutal serial killer. With the kind of tragedy that mars Nola Tensley's past, she should be concerned, but without a pot to piss in, all the struggling single mom cares about is making a normal life for her son.

After all, she's clearly not the murderer's type. Or is she?

When Rhett Voss, an enigmatic and handsome stranger, answers her ad for the outdated in-law suite at the back of her property, offering double her asking price, Nola really can't refuse. Even though the supposed Wall Street Wolf seems better suited for a high-rise downtown - a suspicion that quickly turns into hindsight once she submits to the flirtations of her charming new tenant and, consequently, unearths a series of disturbing revelations.

Her curiosities lead her down the path of a madman whose moniker, The Sandman, only hints at the grisly nature of his crimes. He's smart. Evasive. A cunning psychopath with a twisted method of disposing his victims.

And his hunting grounds are hitting too close to home.

Contains mature themes.

New author for me. Ooh this was interesting! Dark and hot af towards the end. Voss better go all John Wick on Carl! 🤬😭 I've come close to DNF'ing this for the warning. My one beef.
Warning for cat mutilation.

Good and bad dark.

I didn’t like how it ended. We didn’t really get many answers and didn’t realize it was a series.

Voss I enjoyed his character

I really like Keri Lake’s writing style so I recommend this book! The story was interesting and both narrators did a great job!

I definitely like the narrators. It's a duet so of course it ends with you wanting more but that's expected. Parts of the story are very dark so make sure to read any trigger warnings. I expected a little more spice but what you get is good and I like the overall story.

Definitely dark with a bit of good spice.

The male character's voice was so annoying I couldn't even finish his first chapter. It's like he's trying so hard to sound macho and tough, but it sounds mocking and fake.

DNF

The story has high high potential but I can't finish this one. the male narrator is a bit unbearable. IDK why but he sounds like he's trying to sell me a washing machine or something.

Not as obsessed with this is the rest of Keri’s books, but it’s not bad. Not understanding why it’s been split, but I’ll continue with the story.

Liked the story, was not a fan of the male narrator

I picked this up because I fell in love with Keri Lake's writing in Nocticadia. It was a great story and had be eager to get to the next chapter. The male narrator was a bit much, I liked him for The Sandman, the theatrics of his voice made sense, but not for all the others, it was a bit distracting.

Spicy thriller

The end of it has me shocked. I wasn’t expecting it to be the end of it.

Not a big fan of the narrator’s- especially it being dual and not duet.

Cliffhanger for sure

I love when there are a male and female narrator. It makes it so much better. The story was great and I love that we also get to see into the mind of the villian. Starting book two now!
