According to Sacher-Masoch himself, some of the elements in these stories stem from his own life experience! Sacher-Masoch was a seminal and pioneering Austrian writer on a previously un-discussed area of human sexuality. Although he lived and wrote in the 19th century, Sacher-Masoch's stories still possess relevance and fascination for us today.
