About this listen
I'm haunted.
Not by ghosts, but by a face I can't quite remember. Eyes that shine so brightly each time I see them are now nothing more than a hazy memory.
I'm consumed.
The thoughts that whisper so quietly inside my mind when I'm sure I have this evil inside of me under control are becoming more persistent.
I'm lost.
I know where I need to be, but not quite sure if I'll get there. Will she ever show her face to me or will I always only see a blank slate of nothing?
There are only a few simple things I know to be true:
I'm not a messy man.
I'm not a serial killer.
I can stop anytime I want to.
I am not crazy.

Kyran Harbor is everything I'm not. Rich. Popular. A superstar football player who's awfully broody for someone who has it all. Basically, he's a preppy jock who hates me. Oh, and he's also my stepbrother. That's right. We're stuck together, sharing a school, a house, a bathroom. Honestly I wouldn't care if he wasn't such an uptight control freak who messes with me just because we're different. I had every intention of avoiding him when we got to college. Until abrupt misfortune forces us both into a compromising position.

Running away from home at 17 wasn't easy. Let's face it, though, nothing before or in the ten years since has ever been easy for me. And I'm doing okay—sorta. I just need to keep scraping by, living under the radar. Staying out of people's way, off people's minds. When a man walks through my open patio door, stepping boldly into my home and my life, I should be scared, frightened, terrified. I must be more broken than I realized because I'm none of those things. I'm intrigued—and I'm wondering if the way to take control of my life is by giving in to him.

Not for everyone lol.
New author and narrator for me. First off, this is not a romance. 🤷♀️ Second, loooove Guy's voice 🤤 and third, I might be a bit off for finding some of this relatable and funny. There's nothing more satisfying than eliminating a stubborn stain. Seriously though, the psychological aspect is very interesting.
Warning for gore and questionable content (chapter 23 specifically).

This one will live in my memory.
Finished my first horror novel today. Was my anxiety off the charts in the first half of this book? Yes. Am I unwell? Yes. Did my friend get all of my reactions in DMs since she recommended this? Yes.
I did not remotely predict the ending. I listened to the ending TWICE to make sure I didn't hear incorrectly. Goosebumps...both times. 😅
Would I recommend this book if you can make it past the triggers and you enjoy that scary movie thriller adrenaline rush? ABSOLUTELY!
The author doesn't have official CWs, so I did my best here. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out!

Ummm the ending felt rushed and too abrupt. Also, how did the main character earned money and was able to do what he did for so long? Where are the authorities? I feel like that part was overlooked…

Blood and Gore
I’ve been wanting to read this author for quite a while now. This was the first book I decided to take the plunge with and I am so happy I found it in an audiobook format!
I was looking for something twisted yet realistic and this book executed both of those things on my list. If you’re not used to reading horror, tread lightly. This may not be the book for you as there are some pretty graphic scenes that may trigger you.
Yolonda lets you see what it’s like filling the shoes of a serial killer and pushes far beyond the limits of dark and disturbing.
Guy Burress did an amazing job narrating this book. I felt the dark and sexual hunger the main character (also named Guy) feels and his emotion was spot on every time!

Enter with extreme caution!!
I am almost speechless after this one!! If you think you don’t have triggers, check them anyway!!! The story is DARK with a good amount of gore. I can only imagine listening to it on audio brings a bit more emotion which may not have been a great thing with this one. For what it is though, this book definitely did it’s job. Amazing twist at the end!!
As far as the narration goes…he literally gave me chills. The fact that the character is named after the narrator is ingenious!!!
